Featured Artist: Elda
Elda is a concept artist and illustrator from China. We contacted her to feature her artwork, and she also took the time for a 5-minute exchange as well. Language was a barrier, hence the brief exchange, but her beautiful illustrations make this worth it. We hope you enjoy!
Let’s get the basic questions out of the way first, please tell us a bit about yourself. Can you tell us where you’re from, and how you got started in the field?
I am from China. When I was a little, I started painting scenes from stories of my mother’s books.
What project are you currently on, and what are your responsibilities in the job?
Currently I’m working with Perfect World. I’m a little team leader.
Did you always want to be a concept artist, or were you more interested in other mediums while growing up (comic books, animation, etc.)?
I always wanted to be a concept artist, but if I have time, I would like to draw comics — probably a fantasy story. I have some ideas.
Language can be a barrier to discovering new artists. Do you have any recommendations of other great artists that some of us may not be aware of, perhaps some artists that influenced you?
Do you have any tutorials that you’ve created? If not, do you have plans on creating one in the future?
No, I do not. However, I think I should create one in the future.
Do you have a dream project that you would love to work on?
Temporarily not. I’d like to paint some more. Participating in some projects would be nice. You’re welcome to contact me :D
Lastly, would you share with us a photo of your work area?
My work environment? Lol ~~here you go~~
Thank you for taking the time to talk with us! See more of Elda’s work on her blog.
